Adur & Worthing Councils introduces new opening hours
Adur & Worthing Councils is changing its opening hours to reduce call waiting times and provide a better service to residents that need to speak to them. From Monday 19th February 2024 the councils’ customer service opening hours will be changing to 9am - 4pm Monday to Friday with a one-hour closure between 1pm and 2pm every day.
On Thursdays the opening hours will be 9.30am to 4pm with a one-hour closure from 1pm to 2pm, but 9.30am to 1pm on the last Thursday of each month.
The new opening hours will give customer service staff dedicated time to carry out essential training and administration tasks away from the phones, meaning they can stay up-to-date with the latest information and help residents more efficiently.
More of the councils’ services are now available online, including recycling and waste, council tax, benefits, housing and planning, meaning residents can find answers to their questions 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week without needing to call.
A new online form has been created to answer some of the most frequently asked questions, with residents able to request a call back if they can’t find an answer to their specific query.
Cllr Emma Taylor-Beal, Worthing’s cabinet member for housing and citizen services, said: “Having more online services for those who wish to help themselves at a time that suits them, frees up more time for the teams to help those who are unable to access the internet or simply prefer speaking to someone in person.”
