Sussex Bay launches publicly to a packed house at the Corn Exchange, Brighton Dome

An ambitious new collaborative initiative working to enhance and accelerate nature’s recovery along the Sussex coastline was launched on Thursday 13th June 2024 at the Corn Exchange, Brighton Dome.

The vision for Sussex Bay is 100 miles of coastline where our seascape and rivers flourish. A healthy blue ecosystem in which nature, people and local economy can thrive. The Sussex Bay area is an extensive seascape from Selsey Bill to Camber Sands and is home to over 1 million residents.

Students and Staff ‘get active’ for Mental Health Awareness Week.

St Oscar Romero Catholic School marked Mental Health Awareness Week with a ‘Get Active/Get Talking/Get Serving’ programme of wellbeing activities and fundraising for the mental health charity Mind.

In a recent study, NHS England found that 20.3% of eight to 16-year-olds had a probable mental health disorder in 2023. Among 17 to 19-year-olds, the proportion was 23.3%, while in 20 to 25-year-olds it was 21.7%. After a rise in rates of probable mental health disorders between 2017 and 2020, prevalence continued at similar levels in all age groups between 2022 and 2023. It is the place of the school to support children and use opportunities like the mental health awareness weeks for the improvement of students’ wellbeing.

New bathing water sites approved in Worthing

Two stretches of Worthing’s sea are to get extra environmental protection after a campaign led by Worthing Borough Council with resident volunteers.

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has approved the council’s applications to designate the sea off Goring Beach and Beach House Grounds as bathing waters.
