Local Businesses Woman Secures £15,000 donation to Worthing charities

Melanie Peters from Rocket Social Media & Marketing has secured a £15,000 donation to three local charities supported by the Mayor of Worthing.

One of Melanie's clients who wishes to remain anonymous has been impressed with the work that The Mayor of Worthing and Melanie ve been doing in Worthing and expressed their gratitude through a £15,000 donation to The Mayors charitable appeal.

The donation is to be split equally between Superstar Arts, Worthing Mencap (Buddy’s) and West Sussex Mind Worthing - the three charities to which The Mayor of Worthing has pledged her support to at the beginning of her Mayoral year.

The Mayor of Worthing said: “It’s a huge honour to receive this generous gift from one of Melanie’s clients which is to be shared between three fabulous charities in Worthing. Each one provides support and an important service for our community, and they are all incredibly grateful to receive this donation.

In a celebratory event on Worthing seafront, the first cheque was presented to Superstar Arts

After receiving the cheque, the group’s co-founder Jo Sullivan said: “It has been a very difficult couple of years for us, so donations like this are incredibly important and make a big difference. Thank you so much from all of us here at Superstar Arts.”

The Mayor of Worthing added: “It was an honour and a pleasure for Melanie and I to be invited to Superstar’s 10th anniversary party to present them with a £5,000 cheque to go towards their campaign for a new minibus. I would like to express my thanks to Melanie and the business for this extremely generous donation.”

The cheque for West Sussex Mind’s Worthing branch will be presented at the launch of Worthing Mental Health Awareness Week, on world Mental Health Day, Monday 10th October 2022 - an event that Melanie has been involved with for 10 years

West Sussex Mind told Melanie

The money donated continues to go towards vital services for people needing support with their mental health, which for some of our service users has been compounded by the current pandemic

We rely on fundraising and donations for much of our work, so your kind donation is very much appreciated

Richard Deniese operations manager from Mencap told Melanie

"As a small local charity, we provide weekly opportunities for people with learning disabilities and autism to access a range of social, leisure and sporting activities.

We provide information, advice and support to adults who do not benefit from support via the local authority. We also provide work-based training for people with learning disabilities and autism from our community coffee shop, called Buddys.

Your donation will directly support the delivery of the services that positively impact local."

This is a fantastic first six months for the Mayor's Charities and in the last 10 years only one Mayor has raised over £15,000 in the whole year.
