Annual Christmas Market returns to Worthing

Worthing's annual Christmas Market, held by Care for Veterans, will take place on Saturday 27 November, from 12pm until 6pm.

This year's event promises lots of festive fun with a Christmas market selling gifts, decorations, festive treats, and real Christmas trees, along with Santa's grotto, mulled wine and beer, and many opportunities to win prizes in games, raffles and tombolas.

Councils invest in solar panels at six new sites

Community centres, social housing and a historic theatre are set to benefit from rooftop solar panels as the next step in Adur & Worthing Councils’ commitment to reduce its carbon footprint.
The near £190,000 investment will see six sites across the area fitted with the high-tech systems, which will generate clean energy and reduce running costs for future generations.

Councils’ cash boost to help the homeless

Vital accommodation for those most in need in Worthing could get a much-needed cash boost of more than £1.75million from developers.

With demand and costs high, Worthing - like many places in the south east - has experienced an increase in the number of people presenting as homeless in recent years. This has increased further due to the COVID pandemic.

To help ease the issue and ensure those in need have suitable accommodation, Worthing councillors have approved the release of £1,765,800 to provide further help for those in need.

New leader of Worthing Borough Council elected

A new leader of Worthing Borough Council has been formally elected by councillors.

Councillor Kevin Jenkins, who has been Executive Member for Regeneration, was last night (November 10, 2021) appointed to the position at an extraordinary meeting of the local authority.

The former deputy leader succeeds Councillor Daniel Humphreys, who stepped down from the role after six and a half years.
