Chief Inspector James Davidson and Superintendent Nick Dias from Sussex Police will be answering questions on local policing and crime issues at the next JOSC meeting on Tuesday, December 3, which is being held in the Gordon Room at Worthing Town Hall at 6:30pm.

The work of the Adur & Worthing Safer Communities Partnership, which Ch Insp Davidson was recently appointed chair of, will also be under scrutiny by the committee. Residents are being invited to submit their questions in advance, for a chance to have them answered on the night.

The Adur & Worthing Safer Communities Partnership is a multi-agency partnership, including Adur & Worthing Councils and Sussex Police, which aims to bring organisations together to make Adur and Worthing safer places to live, work and visit.

Questions can be submitted to the committee by emailing democratic.services@adur-worthing.gov.uk by midday on Thursday, November 28.

Cllr Joss Loader, the Adur chair of JOSC, said: “As councillors, we know that our communities have ongoing concerns about a number of policing issues in Adur, including antisocial behaviour and speeding vehicles. We continue to work with the police and we are delighted to have two senior officers attending our next scrutiny meeting to discuss our residents’ concerns first hand.”

Cllr Heather Mercer, the Worthing chair of JOSC, said: “This is a unique opportunity for residents to ask any question related to policing in Worthing from two senior Officers. And to seek answers to all the questions you have never asked before.”

The committee is an elected watchdog, comprising councillors from across Adur and Worthing, and is responsible for holding decision-makers - both within and outside the councils - to account.
