Help to transform Worthing’s public spaces
Residents and visitors are being asked to contribute their ideas for how to improve Worthing’s public spaces for the better.Conversations between members of The Big Listen team from Worthing Borough Council and residents have highlighted areas within the town that need to be made more accessible, more green and more welcoming.
Now the Council wants to focus on which areas should be addressed first and how they could be improved, and is asking both residents and visitors for their thoughts.
People are being asked to visit the Council’s website to say what places they would like to change, why and what could be done. Among the features that might be considered are better street lighting, extra seating or shelters, or more trees and planting.
Anyone getting involved is encouraged to get creative, using drawings, sketches or pictures of their ideas - including photographs and maps pinpointing specific areas.
The first 100 people to send in their ideas will be given a £25 Worthing gift card that can be used in more than 100 shops in the town. The consultation will run until 21 October.
Cllr Martin McCabe, Worthing’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, said: “The Big Listen has given us a great start by highlighting that people really care about where they live and work, and that they want to see our town change for the better.
“Now we need everyone’s help to pick out exactly where improvements are a priority, and what we should do to make our town better for all of us.”
