Water regulator pledges to help take action against Southern Water

The national regulator for the water and sewage industry has pledged to work with Adur & Worthing Councils to hold Southern Water to account over its failures.

The Water Services Regulation Authority, Ofwat, has agreed to work more closely with local authorities across the South East following a recent meeting of the Southern Water Stakeholder Group.

Adur and Worthing council tax to be doubled on second homes to try to tackle housing shortage

Council tax charges on second homes in Adur and Worthing are to be doubled to try to encourage owners to sell or let them, to help tackle the local housing shortage.

The council tax due on properties that have been empty for at least a year will also be doubled for their owners.

Adur & Worthing Councils introduces new opening hours

Adur & Worthing Councils is changing its opening hours to reduce call waiting times and provide a better service to residents that need to speak to them.

From Monday 19th February 2024 the councils’ customer service opening hours will be changing to 9am - 4pm Monday to Friday with a one-hour closure between 1pm and 2pm every day.
